In Tibet, the Devil's Dance was performed as a part of the Tibetan New Year celebration. Monks wearing mask of grotesque faces would dance around the village for hours as the village sorcerer would exorcise them with various magickal incantions. This was done to remove the demons and evil influences of the past year.
