New Year's Day

This day is sacred to the goddesses known as the Three Fates, the Goddess Bertha, the Morrigu, the Parcae, and the Japanese gods of the Household.
Traditionally the new year is started off with a spell for good luck, and to bless the new year with love, peace, health and prosperity for all; thus the reason for making a "New Years Resolution".

The first day of this month is dedicated to the god Janus (whose name this month is derived). Janus is the Roman god with two Identical faces looking in opposite directions (past and future). Known as the "Two-faceted" God, he guards gates doorways, and he is known to be the god of Journeys and Beginnings. His face appeared on Roman Coins (circa 350 B.C.E.)
