In Old Celtic Brittian, A ritual called Wassailing the Apple Trees was performed on the eve of the Old Twelfth Night. A traditional libation of cider is poured on the roots of apple trees while an old invocation is sung to the tree to ensure fertility and to drive away all evil entities.
