In ancient Rome, the agricultural festival known as Feriae Sementiva (Feast of Spring) was celebrated annually with sacrifices to Ceres (the goddess of agriculture) and Tellus Mater (the goddess of fertility and the Earth), as well as lesser gods and goddesses of agriculture.
In the year 1940, Z. Budapest (founder of the main branch of Dianic Wicca) was born in Budapest. She founded the Susan B. Anthony Coven, hosted a radio show, directed the Woman's Spirituality Forum in Oakland, and led a public hexing of a mass murderer.
