In China on this day a festival known as Mother Earth Day is held in honor of the birthday of The Earth as a Mother Goddess. This festival consists of street parades, firecracker lighting, feasting and partying. "Birthday Presents" in the form of coins, flowers, incense, paper dolls, etc. are placed in small holes in the ground blessed then covered in soil.
