The Indians of the Andes Mountains celebrate this earth Goddess on the full moon after the Autumn Equinox. This is the start of their planting season, a time when the newly tilled earth has to be blessed and consecrated in her honor. As an act of faith in her benevolence, the majority of foodstuffs remaining from the previous year are eaten in a communal feast.
