New Year for Trees

The New Year for Trees was celebrated on the full moon of the fifth month of the old Babylonian lunar calendar (around February). Both the calendar and the festival have been adopted into modern Judaism. The holiday is celebrated in Israel by planting of new trees, usually in memory of a person or to commemorate a happy event of the previous year.
