The full moon of the sixth month of the Jewish year commemorates the fall of Haman, the wicked Grand Vizier who advised his Persian King to destroy all the Jews in the realm. The Jews were saved through the heroic efforts of the Jewish Queen, Esther. The holiday is celebrated with costumes and candy, much like Halloween.
