At the start of the waxing quarter of the second month of the Hebrew year, an eight-day harvest festival, similar to Lughnasadh in the Celtic year, takes place. Today it is celebrated both in the synagogue and outdoors in temporary huts. Sukkot honors the fruits of the harvest.
