Artinite

Artinite grows in needle-like crystals and fibrous masses. The color is white, but the stone may be vitreous, silky, and/or transparent. It is a somewhat rare carbonate mineral, forming as a crust of acicular to fibrous crystal masses sometimes collected into tight perfectly spherical balls. It is always associated with ultra-basic igneous and metamorphic rocks such as serpentinite.
