Cavansite

Cavansite is a rare vivid blue mineral that is classified as a phyllosilicate, and is composed of Hydrated Calcium Vanadium Silicate. It occurs as spherical clusters of radiating pointed crystals and was first discovered in 1967, in Malheur County, Oregon, USA. This site, and another in Poona, India, are the two primary sources. Although it contains vanadium — a valuable metal — Cavansite does not occur in sufficient quantities to become established as a commercially significant ore. Good specimens are, however, very highly regarded, and it has recently become very popular with collectors. This mineral has a vitreous to pearly luster and a blue streak.
