Kyanite

Kyanite(s)

Attunement stone, automatically aligns chakras, facilitates meditation, helps recall dreams for problem solving, dispels mental confusion.

Kyanite, which is an Aluminum Silicate, is usually an attractive pale sapphire blue color and is also known as Cyanite and Disthene. It forms long, flat, prismatic crystals, often in association with other minerals — these may include andalusite, biotite, garnets, quartz, sillimanite, and staurolite. Good examples are prized by collectors. Kyanite has an unusual hardness property — it is around 4.5 in the longitudinal direction, but much higher — around 6.5 — in the transverse direction. It has a vitreous, pearly, or dull luster and a white streak.

Spar Kyanite
Spar Kyanite is an uncommon variety of the mineral that occurs as long spar like crystals. These have the same characteristics as the more common forms, and are also a pale sapphire blue color and composed of Aluminum Silicate. Kyanite is extracted for several different commercial purposes, including for use as electrical insulators and various kinds of fine abrasives. It is found in many places around the world. Spar Kyanite has a vitreous to pearly luster and a white streak.
