Pumice

Pumice is a lightweight rock that is formed during volcanic eruptions when molten pyroclastic material is thrown high into the air. As this cools and sets, it traps pockets of air throughout its structure — as a result of this, it is typically about 90 percent porous; many varieties are light enough to float in water. It is usually very pale in color, ranging from white to gray. Pumicehas been used to make lightweight concrete since Roman times, and it is also incorporated into many cosmetic products as well as industrial scouring powders.
