Occurring in many color varieties, tourmaline helps to balance both sides of the brain. It brings clearing and balance to the chakras. Tourmaline is classified as a complex mineral group — there are many varieties with a wide range of constituents, typically including Calcium, Potassium, Sodium, Aluminum, Iron, Lithium, Magnesium, Manganese, Chromium, Vanadium, Boron, Silicon, Oxygen, Hydrogen, and Fluorine. Tourmaline occurs in many rock systems, including granites, marbles, sandstone, and various kinds of schist, in many different forms. These include black, green, pink, purple, brown or red and green varieties, the crystals of which are pleochroic, and have a vitreous to resinous luster. The finer examples of Elbaite and Uvite are used as gemstones, whereas schorl is seen commonly as the black specks in granite; there are also many other kinds of tourmaline, most of which are prized by collectors.
