Four of Cups

The Four of Cups is one of the Cards of the Minor Arcana. Depicted on this card is a young man forlornly looking over three cups in front of him. A hand is issuing from a cloud with a forth cup in it. Yet the youth is disastified. This is a card of dissention, and malcontent. When this card comes into your spread it often is there when the person is seeking more than their needs and is not content with having their needs met. I've always seen the three cups as representative of the three basic needs of man: food, shelter, and clothing and the fourth cup issuing as representing wants or desires. This card is one that reminds us to be grateful that our needs are being met on a daily basis, and not to be selfish with our desires. For wanting more and more, you'll only find that enough isn't good enough and you'll never be happy.
