Five of Cups

The Five of Cups is one of the cards of the Minor Arcana. Depicted on this card is a cloaked figure looking down over three upturned cups with a bridge in backround. Behind him are two cups standing upright. The symbolism on this particular card demonstrates a person whom is basically upset at the situations in front of him. This person however is so attached to the attainment of materialistic things that he doesn't see the whole of the truth of what's behind him or what he's leaving behind. I've seen this card as demonstrative of loosing touch with higher truth and spirituality because of placing too much importance on materialism. This card coming into your spread tells you to set and reevaluate your priorities. Are you setting to many expectations on materialism that you have lost touch with yourself? Have you become so concerned over how others percieve you that you are willing to burn bridges with those whom see you for who you are and care about you for that person, not whom you pretend to be?
