Calling The Quarters
So, you have your circle type decided on, good.
Now we will learn how to call the quarters.
First, we will start in the East, though I am
different and start in the North. You will find what is right for
you. I will tell you the traditional method, then you can take that
and do what feels and works best for you. You can use your hands or
you can also use your athame to call the quarters. A sample invoking
of the Quarters will be at the end of this section. You can use what
ever you are comfortable with. Remember, nothing is set in stone and
it is always what feels right for you, not what is right for someone
else.
East - This direction corresponds with the
element of air. Your color candle is traditionally yellow for this
quarter.
South - This direction corresponds with the
element of fire. This make the candle color traditionally red.
West - This direction corresponds with the
element of water. This makes your candle for this direction blue.
North - This direction corresponds with the
element of earth. The color of your candle for this direction will be
green.
Sample invoking of the Quarters:
Spirit of the East, Ancient One of the Air, I
ask you to join with us (me). Be with us (me) and guard us (me) in
our (my) circle. Blessed Be, Spirit.
Move Clockwise to the remaining directions of
the compass and at each, recite the same invokcation, changing the
direction and element.
