Though usually green or bluish green, beryl may be found as a yellow, gold, pink, white, or transparent stone. This silicate of beryllium and aluminum naturally occurs in a hexagonal prism and is quite hard.

Beryl assists in filtering out distractions, relieves stress, and calms the mind. It is especially beneficial for those who need to attain some semblance of calm when used with emeralds or lapis lazuli. Said to bring hope, beryl will assist in any battle or litigation by sharpening the intellect. This stone is also a cure for laziness. Associated with Venus, the goddess of love, if the love between two married people is flagging, this stone can help reawaken it.

Bixbite, a red beryl, has sometimes been called "red emerald" due to its brilliance, quality, and rarity. It is a rather new discover, having only been found in the early 1980s in Colorada. It establishes ones progression toward wisdom and enlightenment

	Stone Lore	Beryl is found in the United States, Mexico, Russia, Brazil and India. Beryl spheres or eggs were used for scrying during the Renaissance. The ancients used beryl in rain-making rituals. It is said that beryl was worn as protection against storms, drowning and seasickness when traveling by water. In the early 1200s, beryl was thought to help in courtroom litigation as well as on the battlefield. There is a "gem city" in Greek myth, called the City of the Islands of the Blessed, where beryl formed the temples of the Gods.
