FallWhen a planet is in the sign opposite the sign in which it finds exaltation, the planet's energy is stifled: Aries (Saturn); Taurus (Uranus); Gemini (South Node); Cancer (Mars); Leo (Mercury); Virgo (Venus, Jupiter); Libra (the Sun); Scorpio (the Moon); Sagittarius (North Node); Capricorn (Jupiter, Neptune); Aquarius (none); Pisces (Mercury). Feminine SignsFeminine refers to receptivity and not gender. These are also referred to as the negative or passive signs, and are the opposite of masculine signs. They are the earth and water signs; Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Pisces.

Fire SignsThese are Aries, Leo and Sagittarius, all masculine signs. Fire is considered fiery, passionate and spontaneous. In a natural wheel these signs occupy the First, Fifth, and Ninth Houses. See also Elements.
Fixed Signs and HousesThese are Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius; and the Second, Fifth, Eighth, and Eleventh Houses. Concerning the quadruplicity known as fixity. The influence of these signs lies in maintaining the status quo and resisting change.
Fixed StarsThese are used by more advanced astrologers. There are many examples, which are usually the brighter stars in the sky. Fixed stars work like the constellations and are said to have a gentle but persistent effect.
