Nadir—The point opposite the zenith and directly below you through the centre of the Earth. Not to be confused with the imum coeli. See also Zenith and Imum Coeli.
Natal—Meaning 'birth'. Natal chart and birth chart are interchangable terms. Also a 'map' detailing the position of the planets in the stars signs and around the Earth at the specific moment of birth.
Native—See Querent.
Natural Chart—A chart in which the First House is set at 0° Aries. Frequently used when birth time is not known.
Natural Houses—The houses when aligned with the corresponding signs; Aries with the First House and through to Pisces with the Twelfth House.
Negative Signs—See Feminine Signs.
Night Houses—The First to Sixth Houses, because they are located below the horizon on the opposite side of the globe to the location of birth.
Nodal Degree—The same degree between 0 and 30 as the Moon's nodes (the nodes are always at the same degree as each other). The sign position does not matter. So 17° Aries correlates with 17° Taurus.
Nodes—The two points in a planet's orbit that intercept the Sun's apparent path around the Earth. See Moon Nodes.
North Node—See Moon Nodes.
North Point—The north intersection of these two lines: the meridian (line around the Earth from south to north and passing through the zenith); and the geocentric horizon (equivalent to the line of the horizon circling around you, but passing through the centre of the Earth instead).
