NadirThe point opposite the zenith and directly below you through the centre of the Earth. Not to be confused with the imum coeli. See also Zenith and Imum Coeli.
NatalMeaning 'birth'. Natal chart and birth chart are interchangable terms. Also a 'map' detailing the position of the planets in the stars signs and around the Earth at the specific moment of birth.
NativeSee Querent.
Natural ChartA chart in which the First House is set at 0° Aries. Frequently used when birth time is not known.
Natural HousesThe houses when aligned with the corresponding signs; Aries with the First House and through to Pisces with the Twelfth House.
Negative SignsSee Feminine Signs.
Night HousesThe First to Sixth Houses, because they are located below the horizon on the opposite side of the globe to the location of birth.
Nodal DegreeThe same degree between 0 and 30 as the Moon's nodes (the nodes are always at the same degree as each other). The sign position does not matter. So 17° Aries correlates with 17° Taurus.
NodesThe two points in a planet's orbit that intercept the Sun's apparent path around the Earth. See Moon Nodes.
North NodeSee Moon Nodes.
North PointThe north intersection of these two lines: the meridian (line around the Earth from south to north and passing through the zenith); and the geocentric horizon (equivalent to the line of the horizon circling around you, but passing through the centre of the Earth instead).
