Balsamic Phase—When a more quickly orbiting planet trails a planet with a slower orbit and appears to "catch up" with the slower body. Deals with your dedication to your destiny.
Barren Signs—These are Gemini, Leo, Virgo. Considered to be infertile of body and ideas.
Bary Centre—The point corresponding to the centre of mass of the solar system, which the planets orbit. The Bary Centre is normally close to the centre of the Sun.
Benefic Planets—The belief among certain astrologers that some planets, especially Jupiter and Venus, are positive and beneficial influences. The Moon's North Node is a benefic point. Opposite of malefic.
Besieged Planet—A planet is besieged whn it lies between two malefics. Traditionally, besieged planets lie between Mars and Saturn, and in the same sign with them.
Bestial Signs—These are Ares, Taurus, Leo, Sagittarius and Capricorn, because they represent four-footed creatures.
Bicorporal Signs—Corporale is Latin for 'of the body'. Bicorporal means double-bodied and refers to Gemini, Pisces, and Sagittarius.
Bi-quintile Aspect—An aspect of 144°, arising from a division of the 360° zodiac into two-fifths. This is a minor aspect. See also Quintile.
Birth Chart— See Natal.
Bi-septile Aspect—An aspect of 102.8°, the combination of two septiles. This is a minor aspect. See also Septile Aspect.
Black Moon—The average lunar apogee (where the Moon is furthest from the Earth). The point opposite the black Moon is called priapus.
Black Sun—The average apogee of the Sun (where the Sun is furthest from the Earth).
Blocked Planet—Where the energy of one planet blocks another.
Bound—Also known as 'term'. See Essential Dignities and Debilities.
Bucket—A configuration of planets in a chart that are grouped closely together. Not reliant on the presence of aspects.
