Galactic CentreThe centre of gravity of the Milky Way Galaxy.
GeocentricConcerning a viewpoint from the centre of the Earth. The Geocentric Co-Ordinate System is the system most commonly used in astrology. A geocentric model of the solar system places the Earth at the centre.
Geodetic House SystemGeodetic means Earth-based. Geodetic houses are linked solely to a place on the Earth's surface instead of the usual date, time and place of birth.
GlyphA symbol denoting a planet, sign or another body or calculated point in the sky.
Grand CrossA pattern of aspects consisting of two pairs of opposition aspects forming a cross. Whereby each pair of adjacent planets forms a square aspect. Planets form an opposition and a third planet at their midpoint, in square. It usually will involve all planets in the same quadruplicity (ie, Cardinal, Fixed, or Mutable). Seen to create a great deal of tension between the planets involved, with obvious and creative results. Also known as a cosmic cross.
Grand TrineWhen three planets, generally of the same element (ie, all earth, air, fire, or water), meet each other to form a triangle of trine aspects. This is a very harmonious relationship between planets.
Great YearA period of time lasting 25,866 years determined by the precession of the vernal equinox through all twelve signs of the zodiac. See also Precession.
Greater BeneficThis is Jupiter, in horary astrology bringing major blessings in signs, houses and aspects.
Greater MaleficThis is Saturn, in horary astrology causing stress and strain in signs, houses and aspects.
Greenwich Mean TimeThe time in Greenwich, England, taken as the reference point for calculating charts based on local time.
Gregorian CalendarIntroduced in 1582 by the Roman Catholic Church to replace the previously used Julian calendar. Used worldwide.
